The 2021-2022 PGA TOUR season is underway and four golfers with Ohio ties are starting the season strong.
Taylor Pendrith is originally from Canada, but played college golf at Kent State. Pendrith made it through the Korn Ferry Tour to earn his PGA TOUR Card this year. In Friday’s second round in Bermuda, he set a new course record 61, with nine birdies and an eagle versus one lone bogie. For the first time in his golfing career, he held both the 36-hole and 54-hole leads in a PGA TOUR event. Although he carded a four-over par 76 on Sunday to fall to T-5, he did earn valuable FedEx Cup points to improve his status going forward.
Justin Lower is 32 years old from Canal Fulton and won 16 collegiate titles, while at at Malone University. He joined the Korn Ferry Tour in 2013 and earned his 2022 PGA TOUR card this year. He missed the cut at the Fortinet Championship in September, but his career got a huge boost with a top 25 finish in at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Rounds of 67-68-67-73 left him T-17 and will help increase his ability to get into future PGA TOUR events.
Patrick Flavin played his college golf at Miami University and is now a member of the Korn Ferry Tour. He Monday qualified for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, posting rounds of 69-66-68-72 to also finished tied for 17th.
Ryan Armour from Akron, played collegiately at Ohio State and joined the PGA TOUR in 1999. He has entered 214 PGA TOUR events and made 112 cuts. Armour finished T-67 in Bermuda.
