Jim Troy Named NOPGA Player of the Year for 2020

With Two victories and nine additional top 10 finishes, Jim Troy was named the Omega Player of the Year by the Northern Ohio PGA.

“I felt I did a lot of good things during the season and I am very happy, but I am really looking forward to 2021. Let’s face it, 2020 was a weird season for all of us.”

Robison Named NOPGA Omega Sr. POY

The 66-year-old Gary Robison is a legend in the Northern Ohio PGA Section. In 2020 he was named the Omega Senior Player of the Year for the 12th time. Those titles go along with the eight NOPGA POY titles he won before he turned 50.

For most the year it appeared like he may win both the NOPGA POY & Sr POY titles in the same year, which would have been a first.

“I absolutely thought about winning both,” said the ultra-competitive Robison. “But, sometimes you step on the gas pedal and there isn’t much gas left, you know?”

TYLER McHugh Named NOPGA OMEGA Associate Player of the Year

McHugh, 26, an instructor at Fox Den Golf Course, garnered his second straight NOPGA Associate Player of the Year title in 2020. With solid play in the four Stroke Play Series events and the NOPGA majors earned him the honor.

The highly competitive McHugh said,

“Obviously, I wanted to win in 2019 but I really wanted to win again in 2020.”
