The 2017 Marathon Classic wrote checks to 23 area children’s charities totaling $523,000. Since the first Jamie Farr Toledo Classic was held in 1984, the annual women’s golf tournament has generated over $9.8 million and distributed those funds to 170 area children’s charities.

A luncheon was held in December to distribute the funds generated from the annual LPGA tournament. This funding is a major source for several area organizations and the stories shared by the receiving charities helped kick off the Christmas season.

I.K. Kim collected her second of three wins in 2017 Marathon Classic, with Lexi Thompson capturing runner-up.

You can do your part to help make the 2018 Marathon Classic’s donation even larger.

The 2018 LPGA tournament will be held July 9-15 and tickets are now available at all area Kroger Stores.
